General Literature
Studies: Effect blocking of colonization pathogens and
stimulates the development of beneficial protective
lactobacillus and bifidobacterium organisms.
One mode of action for mannan-based oligosaccharides involves
interference with colonization of intestinal pathogens. Cell
surface carbohydrates are primarily responsible for cell
recognition. At the simplest level is the role of carbohydrates
in blood types which are differentiated by cell coat sugars.
Bacteria have lectins (proteins or glycoproteins) on the cell
surface that recognize specific sugars and allow the cell to
attach to that sugar. These sugars can be found on the
epithelial cell surface. Binding of Salmonella, Escherichia coli
and Vibrio cholera has been shown to be mediated by a
mannose-specific lectin-like substance on the bacterial cell
surface.

Ultra
Active Yeast
Live Yeast of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae - The Enzyme Producer
Ultra Active Yeast: One of the only food grade live yeasts grown
by aerobic fermentation, for use in animal feeds in which the
residual medium (molasses) on which our selected strains are
grown, are completely washed and removed during harvesting. This
provides the user the highest purity and quality available in
animal feed yeasts.
Ultra Active Yeast: Is vacuum packed, to conserve it's
microbiological properties. On a cost / to use ratio, Bio-Active
Yeast is one of the most economical and effective sources of
live yeast culture for all of your feed mix needs.

Use Directions: General use inclusion rates are from 300 to 500
grams per/ton. At the 500 gram per/ton rate Ultra Active Yeast
provides 10 million live Saccharomyces Cerevisiae cells in/on
each gram of the total blended feed. This is why we say that Bio
Active Yeast is one of the most economical and effective
products of its kind. Research reports show that significant
health and feed conversion benefits in livestock and pet rations
results are achieved with the 3 to 10 million per/gram/feed
Saccharomyces Cerevisiae activity range.
Benefits for Monogastric Animals:
Results of feeding live active yeast products to feline and
canines have not been as extensively studied as ruminants. This
is probably due to the lack of knowledge of general microbial
functions or effects of yeast in this digestive environment.
* Correct balance of microbial populations
What to Look For in Yeast Products:
* Does the product include live or dead yeast cell cultures?
* Is it a consistent single source product?
* Does the packaging protect the viability of live cell
cultures?
* Is the viability guaranteed?
* Is the product stable through normal feed processing?
* Is there proven animal response?
* Is there enumeration methodology?
* Will the product provide a desirable return on your
investment?
Ultra Active Yeast Benefits:
* Increase high
fiber feed digestion and microbial production.
* Greater VFA production obtain higher energy utilization and
efficiency from feed.
* Greater utilization of cereals or other dry matter.
* Less free ammonia N but more microbial protein production thus
benefiting the animal.
* Better feed utilization in transition to solid diets
* High temperature resilience
* Shows good viability when subjected to temperatures of
pelleting.
* DNA fingerprinting consistent, guaranteed single source yeast
product.

No group of microorganisms have been more closely associated
with the progress and the well-being of man and animals than
yeasts. While this claim could be said to be based largely on
the capacity of certain yeasts to bring about a rapid and
effective alcohol fermentation, a capacity which has been used
for centuries in the manufacture of alcoholic beverages and in
the leavening of bread, this would overlook the contribution
which they have also made in determine the basic metabolic
processes of living cells. The pioneering work done by the
French scientist Louis Pasteur in 1876 when he reported that
yeasts were indeed living cells is considered to be the origin
of biochemistry and in fact medical biology. Today yeasts are
quantitatively and economically the most important group of
microorganisms exploited by man (Stewart and Russell, 1981), and
the total amount of yeast produced annually is in the order of
one million tons.
